Everyone in the kid's class seems to be celebrating a birthday. We had two parties at the same place, for girls with the same name in two weeks.
I am surrounded by blogger friends who are amazing photographers, I am not a member of that elite group, I admire them from afar. If I remember to bring a camera, and actually pull it out to use it, that is a rare and happy occasion.
I don't know how to edit, light, focus, crop or any of the other key terms used in photography. I have never read the directions for any camera I purchased. Point and shoot or get out.
This explains the plethora of horrific photos taking up space in my computer's memory.
Than factor in the uncooperative brood I co-habitate with. The youngest two who have created a family tradition of disrobing the moment their feet enter the home after a long day of being clothed at school.
Most of their time at home is spent in various states of undress.
On this evening, the only poses they would agree to were with eyes closed and mouths open. Funny, that is the exact opposite of what I was requesting.
I did have a moment of inspiration, where I invited Aubriana to get dressed up and have a mini private photo shoot.
My main problem was an invisable prop failure, she asked for lipgloss and some lipstick, but her body had an instant reaction to the applied substance and as you can see in virtually every shot, her lips (of their own accord) responded to the extra "weight" of said product as if they had been injected with Angelina Jolie DNA or suctioned into a 4th dimension.
She looks like she smelled something, and not in a pleasent way.
I pleaded with her to retract them inwards.
Then, ths joker arrived on the scene, uninvited and apparently unaware of the dress code. Nothing like a little opposite composition to keep it interesting.
"What part of get out of the shot" does he not understand?
At least his eyes are open and his lips look normal. I'll work with what I've got.
Party part deux, they were even both "Dora" themed.
Buried in plastic, substitue the balls for credit cards and that's my story.
Zip line fun.
Guess who wanted lipstick and gloss for the party?
Enjoy the beauty of spring, if you can't capture it with a camera, at least commit it to memory. Happy Spring Everyone.

Girlfriend!!!! you crack me up!!!! Love you!!!! We really need to get together!!! I will email you! and how fun it would be to take your kiddo's for a walk and get some fun outdoor photos! Hey, it'll be worth a try - and fun too!
(Not that I am your friend who can take great photos - but I still love Jai's 2 yr old photos - dressed up, barefoot walking through the woods - all done with my point and shoot!) Love you girly!
And I can't believe how big your kiddo's are getting!!!
And can I say - double up on the birthday parties people!!! Seriously, same name, same place, and same theme? Wow! That is crazy! But it does look like a fun place!!! :)
Well, though I am NO photographer - I also have chided you enough for your lack of camera on all days ending in "y".
I still love you! And actually, these are some great pics! So you know...we do what we can and the rest we just Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
Meanwhile, is that seriously "I walk the Line" down there on your player? Seriously? GIRL!
xo
Still chorkling or the lip gloss mis step. You will treasure these one day, my dear.
And for the record. It's not about focus or editing - it's about grabbing the moments. Our memory will not serve us when we need it - we'll need these visual reminders. And they will love them one day too.
So, good on you for all your effort. Love your house btw. And Happy Spring to you. Glad to see the clouds lifting a bit over your area.
xoxoxo
Fun shots. I have taken a few classes, but have felt surrounded by extreme talent when I blogged. I know what you mean :). And there is often a surprise in the best planned composition!
Thank you for your kind comments at my blog throughout the year or so you visited. Truly! I wish you and your family all the best, Valerie!

I had to laugh when I saw Little Scantily Clad Man muscle in on your photoshoot with your gorgeous girl. He is such a love...and he towers over her like Clifford the Big Red Dog. What an awesome big brother she will have for the rest of her life looking after her!
Aubriana's dress is perfection on her. That color really suits her, but then again, I haven't seen one color on the spectrum that doesn't!
We, too, have been dealing with the deluge of daycare birthday parties. I constantly ask myself WHY? I keep hearing how much they all spend on these extravaganzas and I chuckle to myself and look at JR and remind him how happy we are with our coffee and cake policy for immediate family only as our means of celebrating with our youngins'. I'd rather bank the money for some other ridiculous thing my kids ask me for that I can't turn down.
Val, I wish you'd take that camera out more. These shots are great and they will forever be a memory to your children how beautiful their lives are and how very much they are loved.
So glad to see you posted...and I'm STILL majorly bummed that I was scammed as the ultimate April Fool :(....wish it wasn't a hoax!
Hugs and lots of love,
Dita Darling
